Adapting to new forms of journalism
Sports reporting is more than just writing a game story or posting a final score.
In today’s media environment, fans consume content in a variety of different ways, including, but not limited to, podcasts, videos, radio hits, highlight packages, and instant-reaction forums. While the traditional postgame gamer and quote turnarounds are important, sports coverage is not just one size fits all anymore.
I’m proud to say I’ve adapted to the changes and have provided fans analysis through podcast and radio appearances. I even created, recorded, and produced a postgame video show for Louisiana Tech football for two seasons.

Tech in 10 postgame show

Before my first season covering Louisiana Tech, I went to my editor with an idea: a video series recapping every Tech football game.
He loved the idea, but put the project in my hands. I took it head on.
Not only did I find the right format to film the postgame video, I worked with the graphics department to create the ‘Tech in 10’ logo.
By the time the second season rolled around, the paper was able to gain a paid sponsor for the video series - giving the postgame analysis increased exposure and importance.
I’ve enjoyed giving my thoughts on the Bulldogs in this intimate video format.
Radio appearances
I’ve always enjoyed when someone has asked me to come on their radio show to talk the teams I cover, most recently Louisiana Tech or Grambling. Here are some examples of my recent appearances.
I even got to host two hours of live sports radio in Monroe (top right) on “The Morning Drive with Aaron and Jake” on 105.7 FM in 2024.
Check out my appearance on ESPN 104.5 (Baton Rouge) to preview Grambling State vs LSU’s 2023 matchup (click the image) or my hits on BleedTechBlue Radio in 2023 (Soundcloud link).
